MADC present THE TEMPEST by William Shakespeare in San Anton Gardens from 29th June to 8th July at (8.30pm)
Stephen Oliver (Amadeus, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Death and the Maiden, The Memory of Water) directs this innovative production of Shakespeare’s last play, with the main protagonist now female. “Women have been punished for being powerful for many centuries, and I thought that was the remarkable thing about changing Prospero into Prospera: you can bring in that history of female struggle”. The Tempest features Kate De Cesare in the role of Prospera together with Philip Leone-Ganado, James Camilleri, Victor Debono, Julia Camilleri, Gabriella Mendez, Michela Farrugia, Matthew Ben Attard and Edward Thorpe in some of the leading roles.
